A fully designed show scaled back last minute to an elevated staged reading due to mismanagement by the director and production staff during tech week that resulted in their removal from the process, Once Upon a Time in the People's Republic of Johnson County is an exploration of progressive thinking and nostalgia during the backdrop of the zombie apocalypse. Focused around Iowa City, IA, it covers liberal and conservative actions across the cities history both at the time and looking back at the past, bringing up the discussion of if certain pieces of art, literature and culture need to be saved and remembered for historical purposes or if that continues a cycle of hatred and nationalism ad-infinitum.

No final photos outside of a cast photo from after the show closed exist due to contractual mismanagement by production, with the remaining photos being taken for promotional reasons of the characters of Beth, Mark, Donna and Gina by Alisabeth Von Presley.
