Pieces of Me / Untitled XR Studio Show
Pieces of Me / Untitled XR Studios Show was an experimental interactive devised piece to research the ability to produce live theatre through the medium Virtual Reality for audiences all over the world. Inviting a small audience into a virtual environment, a single actor in a motion capture suit plays a series of characters to guide the participants to save the world they accidentally destroy.
The actor controlled three characters across the show: The trickster Guide, the chastising Owl, and the ancient Dancer. All characters interacted with the audience in virtual space through the use of live video streaming for the face, and the motion capture suit for all physical actions.
Characters were designed and created in 3DS Max, prior to importing them into Unity. All motion capture was facilitated through Motive by OptiTracks, and all facial video and depth streaming took place through a custom application created by Stephen Siemonsma.
